Ok can they finally put it to rest now?
Nope, in the words of George Bush Sr, “Not gonna do it”
Obama says screw it and released the long form birth certificate that the birther conspiracists have been yammering for. I mean really this was put to rest during the campaign, the candidate was vetted, there really was no reason for him to have to stoop to their level. But when people have an agenda the truth will not stand in their way so president Obama basically said let’s just shut up these whackadoodles once and for all. I would have thrown in a “liar liar pants on fire” for good measure, but hey, he’s got some class.
So, immediate reactions? Well what about the college transcripts?
LOL I’ve already seen that one on a number of comment boards already.
You have to love their tenacity and the speed with which the spin doctors can start a new message.
I also guess that “The Donald” was lying on Anderson Cooper when he said that his “investigators” can’t find any supporting evidence and that the original birth certificate is missing from the vaults?
(LOL2: The Sequel)
So what was Donald Trump‘s reaction to the release of the birth certificate? “I’ve accomplished something nobody else was able to accomplish, I’d want to look at (the birth certificate), but I hope it’s true so that we can get on to much more important matters.” (Go ahead google the quote, it’s already being repeated on a large number of conservative sites. Hate is viral.)
So in other words, well we may have lost that one but we can insinuate that the certified copies of the document may not be real.
That is the one tool in the playbook of the GOP and their spin-off, The Tea Party, that they always fall back on. If you can’t dazzle ’em with brilliance and you can’t wow ’em with facts, then insinuate the hell out of it. (Beck and Limbaugh have made their careers that way)
Remember, when it comes to the media, if something is said just once out loud someone will latch onto it and repeat it and through repetition it becomes true.
You know like, well, the myth of Jesus. (Talk about a game of Grapevine that got out of hand…)
Here is the thing. For all the holier-than-thou bullshit that we hear from the far right, especially the fundamental christian lunatic fringe, they always seem to conveniently and consistently forget a few of their own teachings that they so dearly love to pull out of their collective asses and lord over everyone else.
You know like how they fight so hard to have the Ten Commandments posted on every public building in the country?
Seriously, I encourage everyone going forward when you run across these Tea Party folks who continue to yammer on the boards and spout misinformation that have already been thoroughly disproven, or when you have family or friends who forward you emails that make Snopes.com apoplectic, call them on it.
I don’t mean say it isn’t true or counter them with facts, we know that doesn’t work. Factcheck.org and other sites aren’t visited by these igno-rants. So just turn their own playbook loose on them.
Remind them that they are going to hell for their words and remind them of the Big Ten.
Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness…
Sure it’s a much lower commandment on the list than the worship commandments and maybe they got bored and dozed off before they read that far, but Ignorantia juris non excusat.
And throw in this one for good measure, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19
How come it takes an atheist to remind them? (the fastest way to become an atheist is to read the bible cover to cover)
Oh wait the “new christians” don’t really follow the old testament after Genesis, other than their brief layover in Leviticus and I’m not referring to circumcision. After all they have a new covenant with god so the old rules don’t apply, unless it fits their agenda…
